Biology, the science that studies living organisms, helps us to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe.

The various biological topics here at St. Mary’s, include study of environment , genes, use & misuse of drugs, microbes & diseases, inside living cells & living organisms, cell division & growth in organisms, energy flow & interdependence, biotechnology and animal behaviour.

Today scientists aren’t just mapping genomes and manipulating genes, they are also building life from a single cell. Studying Biology at school level, helps us to see how science works, teaches us to analyse & evaluate evidence and also solve problems of scientific interest. Pursuing a career in Biology can be immensely rewarding and exciting for students with varying aptitudes and from various backgrounds.

The subject Biology is an exceptional foundation for careers in Human Biology, Environmental Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology and in applied areas such as Forestry, Wild Life, Biotechnology and Forensic Science.
